Bold Metal Makeup Brushes at Walmart + a Giveaway

This post is sponsored by Lunchbox. Opinions are 100% my own.

I’m kicking myself. Recently, I spent a boat-load of money on cosmetics. I’m really happy with my purchases, but not so happy with my bank account. Ok – I’m over my pity party because at least I look haute. 😉

Long story short, I went to Walmart for some supplies, remembered that I was going to be reviewing some make up brushes from Walmart so I strolled down the make up aisle and low and behold what did my eyes spy.  Legit make-up brushes.  I would expect to see these in a fancy pants store.  These babies were NICE. When I looked at the prices (to analyze if Wal-mart still indeed had lowest prices now that they had big-girl make-up brushes) they were true to Wal-mart form – a bargain.
These guys are called the Bold Metal Collection.

Real Techniques Brushes

Here’s a short review of their features:

  • – 100 Arched Powder
The design has a dome cut to put powders exactly in their place.
  • – 101 Triangle Foundation
The triangle foundation brush is just fun. I’ve always used sponges, so I love that there’s a fancy, soft brush to do the same thing. It contours perfectly on the large and small areas.
  • – 200 Oval Shadow
The fullness of this brush makes lid application blend well.
  • – 201 Pointed Crease
Hello, smoky eye! The pointed crease is perfect for creases.
  • – 202 Angled Liner
Though I’m not a fan of liner brushes, I do like this one.
  • – 300 Tapered Blush
I LOVE blushing my cheeks and the tapered brush was a treat for my rosebuds.
  • – 301 Flat Contour
The thick stubbiness of this brush makes it great for contouring.

Real Techniques Makeup Brushes

One aspect I loved about all the brushes is the weighted handles. You had something to hold onto and could feel the quality. Makes me think twice about the Wal-mart make-up aisle for sure!  I also like how all the brushes are white which is a good visual reminder for me to clean my brushes regularly!

Bold Metal Brushes

Can I let you all in on my number one tip for better looking make up (besides a good skin care regimen)?

Good make up brushes!  Trust me, high quality make up brushes can make all the difference in the world ladies!

High quality brushes have:

  • – Softer or precise bristles
  • – Shed less
  • – Wash cleaner
  • – Last longer
  • – Better application!
So now that you know that the fabulous Bold Metal brushes are available at Walmart you can scoop them up the next time you’re shopping there.  Visit Walmart.com for additional information and tutorial videos on each Bold Metals brush.

I have even more good news tonight!  I’ve teamed up with Real Techniques and Walmart for a $100 Gift Card Giveaway, so you can buy the whole collection!   Woo!  Good luck!

Aqua Beauty Giveaway & Coupon

Sponsored post by Lunchbox, all opinions are 100% my own.

When it comes to my beauty concerns, nothing is more important than finding products I can feel good about, use every day, and that leave my skin glowing!  That is why I’m excited to share with you about a brand that is new to me, Aqua Beauty.  It’s probably not new to many of you because it’s available at Walmart locations nationwide but I somehow managed to pass it by.  Aqua Beauty has luxurious products without the hefty price tag.

Aqua Beauty

Check out all of their great beauty care products:

  • – Skin Conditioning Cloth Facial Mask – Combats impurities with Vitamin B, marine & tea tree extracts.  Their one time use packs are easy to use, create a fun spa experience at home, and left my skin feeling amazing!

Aqua Beauty Body Serum

  • – Hydrating Body Serum – Improves skin tone and texture with algae & marine extracts.  This has a feature I’ve never seen on a body product before – it has a roller ball applicator!

Aqua Beauty Loofah

  • – Sea Foaming 2 in 1 Soap and Sponge – Gently cleanses and massages skin with algae extract & sea salt.  I’ve never seen a body sponge like this before and I just love it!  The attached soap even massages you as you wash.

Aqua Beauty Scrub

  • – Ocean Fresh Salt Scrub + Polishing Glove System – Dual exfoliation reveals younger looking skin with sea sale & marine extracts.  I’ve never tried exfoliating gloves before and I’m so glad I had the opportunity to.  I don’t think my skin has ever felt so smooth! …especially after I added the Hydrating Body Serum afterwards.  Heavenly!
  • – Hydrating Cloth Facial Mask – Replenishes dull, dry skin with Vitamin E, aloe, & marine extracts.  This is another one of their one time use masks and I found it to be wonderfully refreshing as well!

Right now by taking your very own Aqua Beauty product quiz you can get a $1 off coupon for Aqua Beauty at Walmart!

Tree Hut Foot Scrub – One Step Towards Natural Beauty

This post brought to you by Tree Hut. All opinions are 100% mine.
 photo treehutfoot-GoogleSearch_zpsdd84afd4.jpg

Flip-flop season is officially upon us and I for one couldn’t be happier!  Well, except for my calloused feet.  Winter sure put a hurting on them and they could use a little, umm, extra care.  I put lotion on my feet every single day when I get out the the shower but the dry winter months are rough (ha! rough, get it?).

Recently, I heard of Tree Hut products.  They have hand cream, foot cream, AND a foot scrub!  If you’re like me you get excited whenever you hear of a new product that could make your feet softer without the back pain that comes from spending 30 minutes scrubbing away at your feet.  Yes, yes, I know that’s what pedicures are for.  Maybe I’m too prideful but I want to get my feet looking decent before I go there.  They can smooth up the rough edges but I want to be able to take care of the majority of damage at home.  So, that brings me back to Tree Hut.  Did you know that this nationwide brand is sold at Walmart?  That’s nice for me so I can just pick some up when I’m getting groceries and not have to make a special trip.

While I haven’t tried these products yet I’m anxious to and I just so happen to be going to Walmart tonight.

Here’s a little more about the their products:

Letting Our Light Shine by Donating w/ Champions for Kids #MobilizingMillions #cbias

*This post has been sponsored by Social Fabric and Champions for Kids but all opinions remain my own. Full disclosure is at the bottom of the post.

Let Your Light Shine Banner

My family likes to save where we can so we can donate more.  We don’t donate to every charity out there but we donate too the charities that are closest to our hearts and several that our closest to our homes.  This month is “Missions Month” at our church and I’m priviledged to be able to serve on the missions committee at our church.  Our church believes in supporting local and national missions.  As our pastor frequently says, “The light that shines the farthest shines the brightest at home.”  The missions committee decided that the theme for this month would be “Let your light shine.”  As a way to shine our light we decided to give of our resources to two local charities.  Families are encouraged to bring donations for a local food bank and for a local pregnancy center.  I love both of these ministries and I enjoy shopping for charities.

Champions for Kids

A week or so ago I was contacted with the opportunity to Pack a Sack for Champions For Kids and I jumped at the chance.  Champions For Kids is partnering with Abbot Brand Products to bring nutritional non perishable foods to local food pantries and food banks.  I think it’s neat the way that it worked out because I would be buying food to donate anyway and now I get to promote a great cause and tell you about it.  If I wasn’t part of this campaign I wouldn’t have thought to have told you about my donation but now I can tell you how I donated and encourage you to do the same in your local community.

Being on the missions committee it was my job to help spread the word about this month-long campaign.  We’ve posted fliers, made announcements, added the details to the morning power point slide, and even handed out little key chains reminding people to shine their light.  We have a designated area in the church where people can bring non-perishable donations.

I went shopping at our near-by Walmart for items to donate.  First, I grabbed a few things I wanted to get for our home like Infant Advil (for my sick little one), an adorable mini-golf set (for her birthday coming up), and a new bucket and sponge so I can wash the thick pollen off of my car.  Secondly, I went to the tote section and picked out a medium size tote that I thought would be good to fill with food for the food bank.  Then I went shopping!  If you’re interested you check out my whole Walmart shopping trip.

Similac on Sale

Even when buying for others I’m still thrifty.  When it came to the name brand items that I’m uncompromising on and I buy faithfully for my family I bought those to donate and when I found a store brand item that my family loves I bought it instead of the name brand.   I used coupons, paired them with sales.  I spent as much money as I had budgeted to spend but this way my money went a lot further.

Great Value Snacks

I really want my daughter to learn to be a giver.  I hope to show her example after example of how our family gives to others and is grateful for all we have.  I know it’s never too early to start leading by example but unfortunately my little sweetheart is down with an awful virus.  She wasn’t well enough to go shopping with me and wasn’t well enough to go to church to drop off our items.  Hopefully she’ll feel better soon and she can help us deliver the items to the food bank at the end of the month.

Walmart Checkout

I know money is tight in every home, I know that.  Some of you may have a few hundred to give, others a few dollars, and some truly can’t give anything.  I understand, I’ve been in each of those places at some point in my life.  If you have the money to donate I want to encourage you to give to others less fortunate…especially the children in your neighborhood.

Carrot Recall at Target and Walmart! November 2012

carrot recall

carrot recall has been issued by Target and Walmart on Bolthouse Farms carrot chips. They have been recalled for possible Salmonella contamination.   About 5,600 cases of 16-ounce bags of the sliced carrot wedges were shipped to retail customers in the United States and Canada under the brand names Bolthouse Farms Carrot Chips, Safeway Farms Carrot Chips and Farm Stand Carrot Chips.

There haven’t been any illnesses reported yet but I think it’s better to be safe than sorry!

Here’s what you should look for:

At Target stores the products under recall include 16 0z bags of Bolthouse Farms Carrot Chips with the Target item number: 211-15-0009 and best if used by dates of Nov. 12 and Nov. 13.

At Walmart stores, the recalled products have the following information on their 16 0z bag of Bolthouse Farms Carrot Chips: “Best is used by” date of Nov. 12 with  UPC code 71464 17209 or “Best is used by” date of Nov. 13 and UPC 71464 17209.

Walmart Price Match List 10/24/12 CVS, Walgreens, Target, & More

Walmart logo

Walmart Coupon Policy * Walmart Price Match Policy * Walmart Deals

Here is the Walmart Price Match List as of 10/24.  To view Walmart’s price matching policy in full you can click the link above.  Basically, the item you are price matching must be the identical brand, size, variety and amount to the item you are purchasing at Wal-mart.  The ad you are using to price match must state a specific item for a specific price. For example Crest 4oz. for $1.  They won’t price match $$ or % off items.  They will accept a BOGO if the ad states a specific price for a specific item.  Ex. 20 oz Coke $1.50 BOGO Free.

I highly, highly, highly recommend printing off their price matching policy to take with youjust in case you run into an employee who’s had a bad day or perhaps doesn’t understand Wal-mart’s policies.

Remember Wal-mart price matches to local stores so you can’t price match an ad for a store that isn’t a competitor to your local Walm-art.  Okay, enough with the details, here are this week’s deals!  {Feel free to comment or email me if you have a question about their price matching policy.}
