5 Things My House Says About Me

I’ve always thought that you could learn a lot about a person by looking through their Bible, their home, or their car.  Today, I’m going to be sharing with you a little from my home!  Trisha from Mom Dot created a blog carnival, challenging bloggers to share 5 things that someone would learn about you from walking through your house.  Here are my five!

 

Glenna Jean Mobile

1. I love the color pink and frilly girly things.  These are the ballerina bears from my little girl’s mobile.  I hate to admit it but she’s getting so big that we should probably take these down soon.

 

 

Loaf of Bread

2. I have an amazing husband who cooks and bakes.  This is a loaf of bread from my husband’s latest hobby, growing sour dough yeast cultures.  It sounds gross but it really is fascinating and it’s nice to always have a fresh and yummy loaf of bread handy.

 

 

Kindle Fire

3. Reading is important to me.  You don’t have to look far in this house to find a children’s book or a piece of art work.  We have a little library of kids books in each bedroom, the living room, our office, and a few randomly scattered books in between.

 

 

Bunny

4.  I like animals.  This is the view from my front door.  Whenever you look out you can usually spot a bunny or two running around.  I don’t want anyone to touch or play with them but I think they’re fun to watch.  I feel like Beatrix Potter who, as I’ve heard it told, would keep bunnies around her home for when kids would come to visit.

 

 

Chicken Pot Pie

5.  I’m kind of corny.  My family loves Chicken Pot Pie and whenever I make the crust I always like to add a little message or picture to it just for fun.

Live Your Life So That…

Live Your Life

 

“Live your life so that when something bad is said of you no one will ever believe it.”  This has always been a favorite saying of mine and I was reminded of it recently when a friend’s Facebook account was hacked.  Someone was under my friend’s name and they were posting things that weren’t in line with his character.  I immediately reported the images to Facebook and signed under my husband’s account to do the same.

 

Today my friend had posted an an apology and all the comments following said that they knew it wasn’t him and several had reported the images to Facebook as well.  Here was his apology which I think was well written, “Several of you received a very inappropriate photo in which I was supposedly tagged. My apologies; it was a hack. I am sad that juvenile minds think they are adult when they post such rubbish. Get a life, whoever you are! Better yet, get the Savior and live a life that amounts to something!”  Well said from a man who knows about living a life that amounts to something!  This godly man recently retired from being an associate professor and librarian at the Bible college I went to.  He loves God and that is exemplified through his life of service!  Live your life so that when something bad is said of you no one will ever believe it!

LEGO Store: Free Shark Mini Model (8/7 Only!)

If you are looking for a free activity to do with your kiddos this evening, consider heading to your local Lego Store. On the first Tuesday of every month (today!), kids ages 6-14 can learn how to build a cool mini model and take it home for free!  There is a limit of one per child.

 

Keep in mind that quantities are limited (approximately 250 per store) and the offer is good while supplies last only. If you do, you’ll be sent a scanner and you’ll earn points for recording your store purchases. With each shopping trip you scan items you’ll earn more points that are redeemable from their huge gift catalog.  Some readers have reported earning steam mops, coffee makers, toys, jewelry, health and wellness items and various kitchen appliances but reward items may change at any time.

 

Here are a few of the details:

  • It’s absolutely free to join! If you ever decide to stop participating, you’ll have a postage paid envelope to return the scanner. You are never obligated to participate.
