Dress In Style With Casio Watches

This is a promotional guest contribution from Chrysty Miles.

Casio Watch Collection

A watch is a common accessory that many people wear to dress up an outfit, as well as for the practical purpose of telling the time. Those that want to do this in a fashionable and affordable manner should consider Casio watches. They are both stylish and reliable which makes them an excellent choice.

Casio the Company
Casio is a world renowned name in watch making and the company has been in the business of manufacturing them for many years. During their time doing this they have built a collection that includes a huge number of models and these come in both digital and analog styles. Options are available for both men and women and the inexpensive price tag of most means that anyone can opt for some Casio style on their wrist.

Casio Styles
Casio offer watches in a few different styles. Their classic models are perfect for everyday casual wear, while their dress models are aimed at those in business attire or going out on the town. There is also a range of sports watches for athletes, as well as databank models that can be used to store information.
Styles such as the G-Shock and Baby-G come in a variety of colors to make it easy to find a look that matches an outfit. This is the case with many of the other models on offer and customers have the choice of choosing a more conservative Casio timepiece in a darker color or something a little more vivid and bright. This provides plenty of options to find something that can add an attractive touch to an outfit.

Casio Costs
Casio produces many affordable styles for less than fifty dollars, making it possible for everyone to own a stylish watch.  Some of the newer and higher-end models can run into the low hundreds or even thousands but overall the brand is competitively priced and won’t break the bank.  This means that anyone looking for a low-cost timepiece to coordinate with an outfit should be able to find something in their price range.

Buy American Made with Rickshaw Bagworks

Disclaimer:  This is a sponsored post, meaning that I’m being compensated for my time to share my opinions about Rickshaw Bagworks with you.

Rickshaw Bagworks
Can I be honest? I’m not a HUGE ambassador for a “green” lifestyle. I’m not someone who will only buy items second hand, I still use bleach for cleaning on occasion, and I enjoy processed foods from time to time.  I recycle whenever possible and my husband even thinks I am a little extreme about it.  I buy natural cleaners most of the time but I haven’t resorted to only vinegar and baking soda cleaning.  I buy from thrift and consignment stores but not exclusively and mostly because I want to save money and not the planet.  While my family does eat processed food from time to time we most often try to eat healthy, fresh, and homemade meals.  I believe in trying to live a life of balance.

One thing I believe in doing when at all possible is to buy American made products.  From the time I was little I remember hearing a local car commercial that said, “If you don’t buy {name taken out}, buy American.”  I remember asking my family what that meant and why that was important.  I’ve grown up with a pride in our country and I want to support my local and national businesses if at all possible before giving money to countries overseas.  I know products made in America are sometimes more expensive and I won’t get into the economics and politics of it but if the prices are similar I’ll choose the one made in good old USA.

That brings me to why I’m writing today.  I found a company in San Francisco that makes bags, sytlish bags, that are made out of  {get this!} recycled water bottles!   Who would have thought that was possible?  Rickshaw Bagworks has a factory of urban crafters who are revitalizing the way we think of manufacturing.  Their factory is open to the public so if you happen to live near or are visiting San Francisco then stop in for a visit.

Rickshaw Bagworks’ CEO, in an interview with Inc.com, said, “At $10.55 an hour, San Francisco has the highest minimum wage of any city in the United States, along with onerous business taxes and skyrocketing rents. Fully burdened with insurance, taxes, and benefits, our factory labor rate is $20 an hour–20 times the current labor rate in China and 100 times that in Bangladesh…Still, I wouldn’t have it any other way. San Francisco is no place for large-scale industrial manufacturing or low-cost production of commodity goods. But it happens to be an ideal location for micromanufacturers like Rickshaw.”  He sees the value in trading in a lower price point and mass distribution for quality, a quicker turn around time, and product customization.

Rickshaw Bagworks are also made with zero-waste which is pretty phenomenal.  Alright, I’ll take a break from talking and you can watch a video about the Rickshaw Bagworks company.

These Rickshaw Bagworks are at a great price point. The tablet sleeves are around $20 and most of the bags are in the $30-$100 range.

Rickshaw Bagworks Logo

Rickshaw Bagworks are made from recycled products, are made with zero waste, are made in America, affordable, and best of all, are fully customizable!  They have messenger bags, grocery totes, sleeves for notebooks and tables, and so much more.  Every item can be fully customized by you for only a few dollars more.  There are not many places that will allow you to do that without charging you an arm and a leg.

If you’re looking for a new bag for yourself or someone you love for Christmas, check out Rickshaw Bagworks.  If you don’t buy Rickshaw Bagworks, buy American!

Uncomplicated Style with J.Jill #JJillInspiredStyle

Disclaimer:  This is a sponsored post, I received a gift card to make a purchase and I’m also being compensated for my time.  As always, all opinions are completely my own.

I’ve never been a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl.  I don’t own tennis shoes. Or yoga pants.  I like to dress up but I still want to be comfortable.  As my shape has changed after having my sweet darling girl, my go-to comfort clothes isn’t a form fitting cashmere sweater anymore but a looser fitting sweater.  I want comfortable pieces that even thought they may not be form flattering are still cute and stylish.

Are you like me and have a closet full of clothes but nothing to wear?  J.Jill‘s mission is to help you uncomplicate your wardrobe.  Doesn’t the sound of that just sound soothing?  Picture a closet without crazy trends but a closet full of classic and versatile styles that will still be attractive for years to come.  That’s a closet that I desire!

J.Jill’s new Pure Jill collection is absolutely gorgeous.  It has muted, earthy shades in comforting fabrics.  Recently, I was able to be part of a conference call with J.Jill’s senior designer and a few other bloggers.  J.Jill’s senior designer, Barbara Pattin, said of her new line, “We were really trying to create something beautiful, universal, simple and luxurious.”   I think that sums it up perfectly.  Beautiful, universal, simple, and luxurious.

Casual Christmas Collection

Here is a little set inspired by the J.Jill shirt I bought.  I call it Casual Christmas Collection.  It’s casual, classy, and comfy.  What more could you ask for?

I’ll be honest, as soon as most of you go to J.Jill’s site you’re going experience a little sticker shock so I’ll give you a heads up.  They ain’t cheap.  This is a store where I would like to own five or six quality, lasting, wardrobe building pieces that I would supplement with my regular clearance rack bargains.

However, I have to say that J.Jill does have some fabulous bargains of their own!  I did just buy a $99 shirt there but also a $9.99 shirt!  Plus, I have a J.Jill coupon code for you to save 30% off a single full-priced item.  Just use the coupon code JJSTYLE at checkout before 11/24/14 to receive your discount.  If you have your eye on a few goodies be sure and check back on Black Friday because a little birdie told me that everything will be 25% off that day.  No coupon codes, no one item on sale, no secret handshake.  Simply uncomplicated service.

I’m very pleased to have been introduced to J.Jill recently and I hope that you’ll enjoy their site {or brick and mortar store} too!

How would you describe your style?

Sneezing Without Fear

This post is part of a social shopper marketing insight campaign with Pollinate Media Group™ and Poise, but all my opinions are my own. #pmedia #cleanandfreshswitch http://cmp.ly/3/8vNxcO.

Poise

I invited a lady to go on an overnight outing with me.  {I’ll keep her name private to protect her identity.}  This friend of mine turned down my invitation without giving a reason and since we’re so close I asked why.  She hem hawed around before sheepishly telling me that she was afraid to go far from home because she struggled with light bladder leakage.  I asked if she had tried Poise pads or liners and she hadn’t heard of them before.  Since our outing was a few weeks away I encouraged her to try them out in the mean time and let me know if she changed her mind about the trip.  She got back to me within the next week and was overjoyed at the freedom she felt from such a small purchase.  This changed her life in a real way!

My biggest blessing

Fast forward a few years and I experienced something I never thought I would.  Isn’t it funny how we think things will never happen to us?  Well, LBL {Light bladder leakage} happened to me.  My heart is racing just thinking about saying that “out loud” but it’s true and I think it’s an important issue for women to discuss.  After my darling little angel was born regular old panty liners didn’t cut it.  I was fine when coughing, exercising, and even laughing but sneezing was/is my downfall.  Especially with a little one growing inside of me now, kicking everything possible, I’m worried about LBL.  Worried that is, when I don’t remember to use Poise.

Matron of Honor

Poise liners has helped renew my self confidence.  I was a busy matron of honor this summer and no matter what stress, laughter, tears, or sneezes came at me I was prepared.

Are your ready to handle each day with Poise?  Right now you can print a $2 coupon for Poise.

Pampers Daylight Savings Sleep Tips #DDDivas #DivasSleep #Sponsored

This review was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Pampers. I was provided the featured product free of charge to facilitate my review, but all opinions are 100% mine.

Pampers New Diapers

My sister-in-law told me that the “Fall back” that came at the end of daylight savings time would be great until I had kids.  I didn’t fully believe her but now I know exactly what she’s talking about.  That extra hour of sleep is fabulous for adults who need to catch up on sleep but it can really throw off the schedule of little ones.  Kids who normally wake up at 7, now wake up at 6.  Less sleep is never a good thing for anybody but especially for a tired mama.

Here are a few of my tips from Kim West, LCSW-C, Sleep Lady Solutions, LLC on how to help your baby sleep better during time change {trust me, I’m taking notes}:

1. Many parents I have spoken to dread this time change as their children will be waking up even earlier, and previous early rising issues can become big problems. To help make ensure that your baby’s sleep doesn’t go completely off the rails, make a slow transition. Make a point to slowly adjust your child’s bedtime and naptimes an hour earlier, just 15-30 minutes a day for a few days before daylight savings ends. This way, your child will already be adjusted to the time change. While you’re adjusting naps and bedtime, make sure that you also adjust mealtimes in 10-15 minute increments to help ease the transition.

2. For children under 4 years old, its essential that we make naps a priority this time change.  Quality nighttime sleep is dependent upon good daytime sleep. Make sure that your children are well-napped during the day so that when the time change takes effect having a later-

feeling bedtime isn’t as much of an issue. Between naps, make sure that your children are exposed to plenty of natural light; open the curtains, take an afternoon walk, or just play outside. To help your children adjust, about 30-45 minutes before naps and an hour before bedtime. Close the curtains, dim the lights and follow your soothing sleep routine. If you find that your baby is still having trouble with sleep even after a good day of naps, you may need to temporarily add a third late-afternoon nap, of no more than 45 minutes to help make sure that your baby isn’t overtired at bedtime.

3. To help your baby sleep more soundly, consider installing blackout curtains and using a sound machine. Although the days are getting shorter, there may still be some natural light present, especially in the morning as well as noise when you put your baby to bed. To mitigate these, install blackout curtains and use a sound machine to help buffer outside light and sound. Black out shades are great for children with early rising issues, which is often a problem after the fall time change, especially if your child was already getting up before 6:00 a.m.

4. While preparing for the time change (and after), use dramatic wake up to help your children adjust to the change. It’s entirely possible that after the change your baby may be waking earlier than normal. If this is the case, keep your baby’s room dark and quiet, and use a gentle method to encourage your child to go back to sleep; you may need to check on your baby and reassure that all is well, and remind them that it’s not quite time to wake up. At this point, you can either sit on a chair near the door or leave the room and do timed checks. If your child is over 2.5 years old, I recommend that you purchase a toddler clock or wake up alarm that signals them when its time to get up and start the day, as this will help your toddler stay in bed (and hopefully fall back asleep) until at least 6:00 a.m., at which time you open the blinds and make a big deal of “good morning”. Make sure that you expose your baby to lots of natural light first thing in the morning to help reset his circadian rhythm to coincide with the new time.

Aflac, Health Care Reform, & Open Enrollment Information #MC

Are you ready for Open Enrollment?  I’m not one who likes to discuss insurance or do paper work but I’ve come to understand that it’s an important, or even essential, part of life.

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Aflac. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

Aflac

Even though I hate discussing insurance and the thought of doing paperwork gives me chills I know it’s important to have the best health insurance possible for my family…and I let me husband take care of the paperwork.

I felt confident in my knowledge of our health insurance coverage, until that is, all this talk about health care reform.  Understanding the requirements of health care reform is crucial to knowing how it will affect me and my family and how we can plan for the future.  Our family is fairly healthy but if we didn’t have insurance we would be hurting!

Aflac shared with me a few startling statistics that I want to pass on.

The 2013 Open Enrollment Survey found that:

  • – 74% of workers sometimes or never understand everything that is covered by their insurance policy today.
  • – Now, nearly 4-in-10 (37%) workers think it will be more difficult to understand everything in their health care policy with the changes dictated by health care reform.
  • – Nearly a third (28%) of employees are confused, worried or simply unsure about the change their employer is making to their health care coverage or benefits options due to health care reform. {Surely that number is higher, right?}
  • – 60 percent of workers have not begun to educate themselves about coming changes to their benefits package due to health care reform. {Now that I believe!}

Here are a few things that can help you to better understand your insurance coverage and make sure you have the best plan for you and your family.  I’m definitely going to share these tips with my husband so we can discuss our plan.

Aflac’s Top Tips:

  • – Prepare ahead of time: Be aware of annual insurance policy changes and compare your new benefits package to your policy from the year before. Do your homework to ensure you choose the right policy that fits your family’s needs and make sure that all of the health insurance costs you’re responsible for are within your budget. Also, review the deductibles and additional out-of-pocket costs for health care services and pharmacy purchases you’ll be responsible for paying to ensure your plan offers the coverage you need.
  • – Don’t make assumptions:  Ask your HR manager if your policy options changed to include new benefits made available by health care reform.
  • – Check your spouse’s benefits package: Your employer doesn’t have to offer insurance to your spouse and as costs increase, more companies are cutting this option. Even if your employer does offer your spouse insurance, the company is not obligated to pay anything toward the premium. If your spouse has access to employer-sponsored health insurance through his or her job, it may make the most financial sense to purchase two individual policies as opposed to one family policy.
  • Don’t double up: Health care reform legislation requires plans in the individual and small group markets to offer essential health benefits like pediatric vision and dental and, chronic disease management services. Check all aspects of your major medical plan so you know what is covered and what isn’t.
  • Examine premium costs carefully: Cheaper isn’t always better, since plans with the lowest monthly premiums likely mean you’ll pay more in co-insurance and receive less coverage.  That may be the perfect plan for your family if you have a savings account built up but make sure you choose the plan that is right for your family.
  • Consider supplemental insurance such as accident, hospital or critical illness plans to help reduce rising health care expenses.
  • – Take a look at Aflac’s Open Enrollment Resources.

Open enrollment season is coming soon so take the initiative and make sure you and your family have the coverage you need to maintain your lifestyle even if the unexpected happens.

Enter Jif’s Most Creative Sandwich Contest #MC

Now through November 8th, Jif Peanut Butter is running their Most Creative Sandwich Contest and I’m entering.  I think you should too!

I participated in a campaign on behalf of Mom Central Consulting (#MC) for Jif. I received a promotional item as a thank you for participating.

Apple Peanut Butter Sandwich Recipe

Being pregnant with morning sickness {for 5 whole months!} I learned what worked for my body.  Snacking regularly on peanut butter was one of those sanity saving tricks that helped me make it through the day.  Because I soon grew tired of plain peanut butter sandwiches I found other creative ways to eat peanut butter.  One of my absolute favorites is this apple peanut butter sandwich that I created!  I have to emphasis that I created it because it’s one of the few recipes that’s truly 100% mine. {Okay, so my mom suggested adding the nutmeg but that doesn’t really count, right?}

I’m planning on entering my simple sandwich in Jif’s Most Creative Sandwich Contest and if you have a creative sandwich recipe that uses 2 tbs. of peanut butter I encourage you to enter to!  There is a $25,000 college fund and a trip to New York City up for grabs!  Go here to enter Jif’s Most Creative Sandwich Contest and be sure to read all of the entry rules too.  The contest ends on 11/8/13 so don’t delay if you want to win!

Tropical Fantasy Sandwich

Take a look at this fun Tropical Fantasy Sandwich that made it to the finals of the contest last year.

Here are the ingredients in my Apple Peanut Butter Sandwich:

– 1 apple, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced {I used a Gala apple}
– 1/2 teaspoon of brown sugar
– 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon
– 1 pinch of nutmeg
– 8 tablespoons of creamy peanut butter
– 8 slices of bread {I used wheat bread}
– 1-2 tablespoons of unsalted butter

To see the full recipe go here to EmbracingHomemaking.net where I have it posted.  If you try it please let me know how you like it!

Minnie Mouse Birthday Party

Some of the items featured below were given to me in exchange for featuring them in this post.

Minnie Mouse Birthday Party

It’s that time of year again…time for me to share about my little girl’s birthday party.  This year she had a Minnie Mouse party because she loves that giggling mouse.  She has a Minnie Mouse phone, purse, microphone, book, and on and on.  This theme fit her perfectly with it’s feminine flair and pink hues.  I hope you’ll enjoy this overview of her party.  I’m sorry there are so many pictures but I just got carried away!

Minnie Mouse Party

This was our food table that held sweet treats, drinks, and hamburgers and the fixings.

Minnie Mouse Cupcake Stand

This Minnie Mouse cupcake stand was custom made for this party. {See Bella Livelli} I chose an old fashioned Minnie Mouse image and requested it in the colors you see above.  I was able to choose the number of tiers, the ribbons used, the design of each tier.  I love that each tier is washable and can be used time and time again.

Minnie Mouse Cupcakes

Here is an up close shot at the cupcakes.  Shhh!  Don’t tell anyone but I bought all of these cupcakes at Walmart and later embellished them at home.  It was a busy month and this saved me a lot of time and my sanity.

Minnie Mouse Bow Cupcakes

I made bows out of fondant the night before the party {with this mold from Kreative Koala} and threw them on the sprinkled cupcakes right before the party.

Minnie Mouse Ears Cupcake

These bows and ears came pre-made from 1StopParty and I quickly put them on the pink cupcakes myself.

Minnie Mouse Cupcake Picks

The Minnie Mouse cupcake picks came ready to use {from this CYN Paperie} and I think added a lovely touch to the chocolate cupcakes.

Minnie Mouse Cookies

The cake pops were bought in the freezer section of Walmart and were surprisingly tasty!  I kind of feel bad for totally cheating on these Minnie Mouse cookies but it was so easy.  I bought cookies from Walmart and used a cookie cutter {See UniqueCookieCutters} to cut out the Minnie head.  They were finished in ten minutes tops!  {Don’t worry, we ate the scraps later too.}

Chocolate Cake

Because my life was so crazy at the time of the party, my good friend, Jennifer, asked if she could help out with anything.  I was tempted to say no but she makes this a-maz-ing fruit dip so I asked her to bring some.  I’m so glad she did, it was delicious.  {Remind me to get that recipe for you sometime!}

Minnie Mouse Banner

I got this lovely Minnie Mouse banner from Sutton and Co.  I always enjoy handmade items and I personally think these Minnie decorations are a lot less tacky {is that the right word?} than a lot of the mass produced Minnie party decorations.

Minnie Mouse Gift Bags

Check out these cute party favor bags from the Etsy shop, Barn Nest.  Are they not adorable?!  I was able to choose everything about these bags from the color bag, color bow, types and color of ribbons.  I decided everything but I didn’t have to spend time working on them.  Can you tell how much I love shopping at Etsy?

Minnie Mouse Party Favors

These party favors were perfect for even the smallest partiers – pink crayons!  {See Lil Nicks}

Minnie Mouse and Mickey Mouse Ears

These cute Minnie and Mickey Mouse ears were purchased on clearance from a local party store.  I don’t know how I lucked into running across these but I was ecstatic about this find!!

Minnie Mouse Party Straws

I also stumbled upon these fun straws at the party store.  They were fun for the kids to use and later take home with them.

Minnie Mouse Birthday Party

Here is another look at our table filled with yumminess.  You can see the chocolate cake for the guests to eat, pink marshmallows which the kids loved, raspberry M&Ms {yum!}, and on top of the cupcake stand you’ll see a tiny cake with two candles for the birthday girl.

Minnie Mouse Cake Topper

Here’s a closer look at the Minnie Mouse topper and my daughter’s turtle cake {bought from Walmart – Shh!}.

Minnie Mouse Birthday Girl

The birthday girl loved her cake and while she didn’t get too messy she enjoyed it.

Minnie Mouse Party Candy Table

Our sweets included a variety of pink shades and candy for both adults and kids.

Minnie Mouse Party Plate

These DIY Minnie Mouse plates were so easy to make that I even did this myself!  I already had a Cricut so I went and bought a Mickey/Minnie Mouse cartridge for it.  Once I had my Minnie heads cut I simply glued them to the back of clear plates.  Very simple!

DIY Minnie Mouse Plate

I used the same size Minnie head for simplicity and here’s what they look like on the smaller dessert plates.  If you want to get really creative you could even add a bow on there too!

Minnie Mouse Streamers

Here is a look at our decorated back porch where the men spent their time talking as they grilled.  The Minnie Mouse streamers which you see here {and you can see from other pictures that they were used inside} came from the Etsy shop called Welcome to My Store.  The pink hanging lanterns and such were bought at a local party store.

Thank you for letting me share this birthday party with you!  I also want to thank all those who were involved in helping me set everything up,  tear everything down, and those who came to celebrate my daughter’s birthday.  I appreciate you all!

For those that I don’t know personally who found my site while searching for Minnie Mouse party ideas I hope that I’ve inspired you a little.  Feel free to Pin any idea you see so you can remember them later!  If you want to blog about any part of this party feel free to do so, all I ask is that you link back to this post.

Thank you again for reading and have a beautiful day!
