LEGO Store: Free Duck Mini Model (Tonight Only!)

I love fun and free activity for kids and there is a great one happening this evening at your local Lego Store! On the first Tuesday of every month (which happens to be today), kids ages 6-14 can learn how to build a cool mini model and take it home with them absolutely free!  There is a limit of one per child.

 

Each store has approximately 250 LEGO kits and the offer is only good while supplies. The free LEGO mini-model tonight is a duck.  Isn’t it cute?  This event will start at 5PM at most LEGO stores; however, I do encourage you to contact your local store or visit LEGO.com for more details.

Belvita Breakfast Biscuits Review

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day, right?  If that’s true then why is it so hard to make it a priority?  It’s hard for my family to make time for breakfast because we’re night owls who like to savor each moment of sleep in the morning.  I’m pretty sure that we walk around like zombies for the first hour or more each day or at least it feels that way!

Even on the busiest morning I try to at least grab a banana or a piece of bread and spread Nutella on it.  Eating breakfast helps speed up my metabolism and eating a breakfast high in fiber helps sustain that energy.  I was pleased to have been invited to take part in a promotion from Mom Central and belVita called the Five Days of belVita Breakfast.  belVita Breakfast Biscuits are the hottest thing for today’s busy moms.  If you haven’t heard the buzz on Facebook about them yet let me give you the details!  They come in small individually wrapped packs with 4 biscuits in each package.  There are 5 packs in a box and each one regularly retail for $3.69.

These biscuits are pretty much cookies, healthy cookies.  They are ridiculously yummy!  They are crunchy, slightly sweet and go wonderfully with your morning coffee.  Not only do they taste amazing but they are a good source of fiber and vitamins.  They have a sustained energy release which comes from a combination of ingredients and the baking process which helps preserve the grain’s integrity.  These keep me fuller longer and gives my body continual energy instead of a giant spike that a sugary breakfast would.

My family absolutely loved these bars.  I wanted to take pictures of them for my review but all three boxes disappeared before I had the chance!  My husband eats them without me having to remind him and if you know how my husband hates breakfast you’ll know that that is HUGE!  I love how belVita Breakfast Biscuits are so versatile.  You can eat them with yogurt and fruit, with peanut butter and Nutella spread on top, or you could spread yummy strawberry cream cheese on top.  Yum!  My favorite way to eat them is straight out of the package.

I can’t help but think how great these must be for pregnant ladies.  I remember constantly snacking on crackers to avoid nausea and I hated they were so bland and boring.  These biscuits make great snacks for anyone.  They are the perfect size to toss in a purse or backpack for snacking on the go.

My Frugal Journey

This is me when I was in school at Appalachian Bible College.

 

I’ve been frugal ever since I started spending my own money but it wasn’t until college that I learned the joy of finding bargains. I figured out that when you buy things at a lower price you can afford to buy more things!  I learned where the bargain sections were at each store and what day of the week each store lowered their prices.

Not long after college I found myself working a full time desk job, a full-time job at a local radio station, and a part-time job selling Mary Kay, still struggling to have enough money to eat. I often went days without food but I was too busy working to really notice. I used my toothpaste sparingly because I knew when it was gone that I didn’t have money to replace it.

 

A co-worker and dear friend paid for my lunch one day and gave me instruction on how to save money. She bought me a bottle of vitamins, a large bag of beans and a large bag of rice. I’ll never forget how grateful I was! She taught me how to cook them and freeze them in individual portions. She explained to me how with coupons and a sale I could get free and cheap things I needed like toilet paper and shampoo from drug stores. Not long after that I met the man who would soon be my husband. We fell in love and were married in a matter of months and I no longer had to worry about money for food. Because someone cared enough to give me their time, food, and compassion I will never be the same! I want to pass my knowledge on to others and do all I can to help them avoid difficult financial times.

What The Bible Says About Exercise

Since it’s now a few months past our new years resolution and many people included getting healthy/ losing weight in their resolutions, I thought I’d chime in with some of my thoughts today on exercise!

 

There is only one time that physical exercise is mentioned in the Bible and it is in I Timothy 4:8 – which reads “For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.”

 

The Bible affirms that “physical training is of some value“. What does this mean for you personally? Could you have any ailments that you think physical exercise could help? Studies show that exercise gives us physical and mental energy, it makes our muscles and bones stronger, reduces fatigue, depression, and anxiety, helps us sleep better, fights heart disease, and generally gives you a longer, healthier life. “Physical training is of some value.”

 

Is exercise important to you? Do you exercise for vain reasons? At one time I can tell you that vanity was attached to my exercise. But now that I’ve had a baby and my body has changed (more than I would care to admit) it is less about vanity and more about being healthy.

 

I won’t list my ailments for you – but I do suffer from hypersomnia which I take medication for and also neck pain due to an old injury. My neck pain literally melts away with regular workouts and sleep. As soon as I stop exercising or sleeping well it returns back in full force. “Physical training has some value” and without it I suffer and my entire family suffers.

 

I value my exercise time so I have to make it a priority and somehow squeeze it into my routine.  When do I do it?  I have my quiet times in the morning so that free time is taken! Then my busy day begins and is packed full with my family and responsibilities. For me the best time (and the worst time) is at the end of my exhausted day!  Most often at this time of day all I want to do is snuggle up on the couch in my pj’s and hubby, turn on the television and grab my computer – but instead I have disciplined myself to spend 30 minutes, 3-4 times a week exercising.  It’s rare but some days I’ll exercise in the middle of the day.  If I can fit this in during the day it leaves my entire evening free to spend with my family and it gives me more energy to go about my daily activities.

 

When I fall off the bandwagon, there’s no motivator like a sharp pain the neck to remind me that I need to exercise!

 

So I want to encourage you that if you suffer from fatigue, low energy, and aches and pains, and you think – “but there’s just not enough time” – you must make exercise a priority – it has some value! It is not a waste of time – it is an investment into your life– your quality of life. Pray and ask God to help you.  Get moving at least 15 minutes three times a week.  And then live your life passionately for God – with energy!
