The Conscience Clause

You have strong convictions, but President Obama says that doesn’t matter. He’s ready to rescind the Conscience Clause.

The Conscience Clause was implemented by former President George W. Bush to give physicians and nurses the choice to act according to their conscience — to not participate in abortion procedures if it conflicts with their personal convictions. If President Obama makes this damaging move, if he reverses the Conscience Clause, pro-life doctors and nurses will be forced into performing abortion procedures, despite their individual beliefs.

The announcement was made Friday, March 6, 2009. Since the official announcement was made, the public now has 30 days to file comments with the White House … so we’ve got 30 days to make our voices heard at the White House.

Make a difference in this nation and stand for the freedom to act according to your conscience. Sign the online “Petition to Protect Pro-Life Doctors” below now. It will be delivered and filed at the White House no later than April 8, 2009. Get the word out now. BE HEARD!

To sign the petition, follow the directions on the website below. Thank you.

Embryonic Stem Cell Research

President Obama has given the ok to destroy human life in the name of scientific research.

Embryonic stem cell research is immoral and ineffective. It is immoral because it destroys human life at its earliest stage of development by harvesting the stem cells for body parts. It is ineffective because it has yet to be used a single time in any therapeutic application.

Researchers must get their funding from taxpayers for embryonic stem cell research because they can’t convince private sources to invest. Private investors know there are no proven uses for embryonic stem cells. It’s all hype, hope and theory.

But adult stem cell research, on the other hand, is ethically benign and is already being used to treat over 70 diseases and conditions. If taxpayer dollars are going to be spent on stem cell research, that’s where it ought to go.

By reversing funding restrictions on embryonic stem cell research, Pres. Obama is making every American taxpayer complicit in immoral, life destroying research. This is a terrible example of political ideology trumping sound science.

Send an e-mail to President Obama and let him know how you feel.

Educate Others About the Truth Behind Abortion

This summer, Abort73 plans to exhibit at 17 music festivals – which would potentially put them up in front of nearly one million people. The total price tag for the exhibit fees? $13,164 – which means that if every member of the Abort73 cause gives just $1, we’d have almost exactly what we need. For just $1, you can play a significant role in reshaping the way America thinks about abortion. It starts this summer; it starts today. Since Facebook doesn’t allow for donations under $10, you can donate online at: http://abort73.com/$1

If you don’t have a credit card, you can send a $1 bill to: Abort73, PO Box 2256, Loves Park, IL 61111.

Abortion thrives in tough economic times as more and more women rationalize, “I can’t afford a baby”. Help combat this horrible trend. It only takes $1.

http://apps.facebook.com/causes/fundraising_pledges/57006?m=4e58a80e – This is my link- I pledged to raise at least $100 for this cause. If we’re honest, we can all give $1.

Leaving a Legacy of Faith

Here are a list of my favorite Bible resources. I hope they’ll encourage you and your family in your walk with the Lord. With all the conflicting messages our children receive in the world, it’s important to send a clear message at home about what is True and what is not.

Biblegateway.com – This is the first place I go. It has all of the major Bible translations available, so you can study the same passage in different translations and compare the wording. One of my favorite features is the KEYWORD SEARCH. If you want to study one particular topic, you can easily see what the Word has to say on this subject using this great feature. Simply type in the keywords – sowing and reaping for example, and every verse in the Old and New Testament containing those two words is retrieved.

Blueletterbible.org – provides you with an extensive list of:
– commentaries (Bible scholars comments on each chapter of the Bible) &
– concordances (literal definition of each word in it’s original language).

Biblemap.org – simply type in the passage of scripture you are studying and a map will direct you to the places of significance for this period.

Children’s curriculum – 325 free downloadable childrens Bible lessons, from Genesis to Revelation, including Bible memory, Bible stories, coloring pages & games. Part of Calvary Chapel in Santa Anna, California.
Homeword.com – an extensive list of articles and activities for children and families.
Oneplace.com – the best site I’ve found for free audio lessons. You’ll find lessons by James Dobson, Beth Moore, Kay Arthur, Chuck Swindoll, and MANY OTHERS! You can even find a series of classics by A.W. Tozer!

5 Simple Tips to Manage Your Hunger

Managing your weight also means managing your hunger. Here are 5 simple tips offered by Kraft Foods Healthy Living to help you stay on track.

1. S-l-o-w down. Your body takes about 20 minutes to signal it’s had enough food. Leafy green salads take a while to eat, giving your body enough time to recognize it’s satisfied.

2. Break the fast.
Eating a morning meal makes it less likely you’ll overeat during the rest of the day.

3. Make room for snacks in your diet. Foods with fiber and/or protein—whole fruits, cheese, whole grain crackers, nuts, peanut butter—will help keep you from feeling famished between meals.

4. Choose foods with lots of water. You can reduce hunger by eating foods that have a high water content—whole fruits, whole vegetables and broth-based soups.

5. Stay calm. Develop ways to cope with stress so you’re less likely to overeat.
