Magic Mike Who?

Magic Mike Who

I stumbled across a post today and I absolutely loved it.  Actually, my husband found it and showed it to me.  Mrs. Gore writes about true masculinity and I think she hit the nail on the head.  She wrote it in response to the new movie, Magic Mike.  I hadn’t heard of this movie until now but apparently it’s a movie about a male strip club. IMDB‘s description of it says, “A male stripper teaches a younger performer how to party, pick up women, and make easy money.”  Umm yea.

Please, if you have the time take a few minutes and read this post from Mrs. Gore’s Diary called Magic Mike Who?  I think you’ll like it!  Feel free to come back and share your thoughts.

Thanks for that link. Great post. I love dance, but not willing to compromise so much for so little.

  2. That was a great post. I think our country is in trouble because so many have lost sight of what is important in this life. I will not be seeing the movie nor will I be reading 50 Shades of Grey. Thanks for a great post!

  3. I saw the movie. It’s a pretty sad movie, not a raunchy comedy which was the way it was marketed. The male stripper is treated the way female strippers are. Women don’t want to date him, just use him for sex. His boss takes financial advantage of him. Other men look down on him. He meets a “nice” girl who is turned off by his job and won’t date him. He can’t get a loan from a bank to start a business (making handcrafted furniture) because he is paid “under the table” and his life becomes more & more meaningless with partying & empty sex until the end of the movie when he quits stripping because he is so depressed with his life. It ends with him deciding to focus on starting his furniture business and convincing the nice girl to date him. As for the young stripper he takes under his wing, his life is seen as heading down the same depressing, empty path the older stripper took. It’s actually a rather bleak movie. Though the dancing scenes were very impressive. Not very sexy – very athletic. And funny because of the ridiculous costumes. Definitely not a sexy feel good movie.
