If you have a problem or issue with a store the best thing you can do is to call their main office (I recommend this only after you allow the manager to call corporate while you wait). It only takes a few minutes to file a complaint but it can save you some headaches in the future. Chances are it will take you less time to call the corporate office than you would spend arguing with cashier and store manager every time you go in that store.
What should you call about:
Any “new policy” that is completely different from what you know has been the policy in the past.
- “We can’t accept internet printed coupons”
- “We can’t stack a store coupon and manufacturer coupon”
- “We can’t use a coupon with a BOGO sale”
- “We can’t use coupons that cause an item to be free”
- “We can’t double coupons that cause an item to be free”
A cashier or store manager that treats you like a thief for using coupons. *Try hard not to take it personal, they are doing what they think is best.*
Any other good or bad experience. *Good experiences are great to share and will help encourage your store to continue to accept coupons*
You might feel like you are a bother and are wasting their time but trust me, there is a person at that office whose entire job is to answer the phone and take complaints and compliments. You won’t be keeping anyone from their job so don’t worry about that.
If you think you shouldn’t call because someone else will you have to realize that the more people who call and complain the more likely it will be that action will be taken to solve the problem.
What do you need:
Before you call get your store number or location handy (usually found on your receipt). This is needed for whether you call with a complaint or compliment.
If you are calling about a particular coupon they wouldn’t accept have it handy and be prepared to tell where you obtained the coupon.
If you are calling about a particular product have the item handy as they will need numbers printed on it.
If you have a compliment or complaint about a specific person then knowing their name should help.
